Katie Kingston is a recipient of the Colorado Council on the Arts Literary Fellowship in Poetry. Recent awards include second place for the Stephen Dunn Award, finalist for the May Swenson Poetry Award, the Ruth Stone Prize, and the Poetry Atlanta Review, as well as semi-finalist for the Nimrod/Hardman Pablo Neruda Prize. Kingston has been awarded residencies at the Anderson Center, Jentel, Ucross, and Vermont Studios, as well as fellowships at the Harwood Museum of Art and the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation in Taos, NM. She is a graduate of the Vermont College MFA in Writing Program.
Kingston grew up in Stevens Point, Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she graduated in Education with a Spanish major. She attended the University of Valencia in Spain during her junior year. She continues to travel to Spain, as well as to various sites in Mexico and Peru to visit archeological ruins. She has taught Spanish, English and Poetry throughout the Rocky Mountain West. Currently, she lives and writes in Corazón de Trinidad, Colorado, located in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range.
